Our Vision is to become the community club of choice in London, where everyone gets active via the Sport of Handball. We want to carry on activities which benefit the community and encourage, foster and develop Handball in all its forms amongst all ages and sections of our community. Up to now, we have been operating via an internal volunteering pool. Due to our consistent growth over the past few years, coupled with a strong growth potential / demand, we are looking into expanding our management capabilities. Effectively engaging, developing and sustaining human capital, is a key strategic area of focus, where this role is intending to support. You will be contributing to bringing more people in physical movement via handball (a recognised and inclusive sport teams sport) – particularly physically inactive social groups, such as children and young people, women and girls, and financially-disadvantaged socio-economic groups, in accordance with Sport England’s strategy.
What are we looking for?
Experience in HR, volunteer management, or people-related roles. Understanding of safeguarding and welfare best practices. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Passion for community sports and grassroots initiatives. Ability to work collaboratively with a volunteer-led team.
What will you be doing?
We are seeking an HR Manager to oversee and support our club’s people-related functions, ensuring we create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed environment for all members and volunteers. This role is ideal for someone with HR experience who is looking to contribute their skills to a community sports setting. Key Responsibilities Volunteer & Staff Management Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and supporting volunteers and coaches. Policy & Compliance Ensure club policies (e.g., safeguarding, equality & diversity) align with legal and ethical standards. Welfare & Wellbeing Act as a point of contact for welfare concerns and support a positive club culture. Learning & Development Identify learning needs and opportunities for volunteers and staff. Conflict Resolution Mediate disputes and handle grievances in a fair and professional manner. Record Keeping Maintain up-to-date records on volunteers, training, and policies. Club Culture & Values Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all members.
