Personal Care Assistant @ £9.50/hr Birmingham B14 – Immediate start – BIRMINGHAM – B14 Hi,

About me:
• I have Cerebral Palsy and use an electric wheelchair during the day.
• I enjoy comedy gigs, attending the theatre and walks outdoors.
• I’m a writer so will often be doing my own thing in my own space. This is an ideal time for you to complete any tasks that need doing or to do your own thing if they are already done.
• I have a dog, so someone happy to be around and assist with the care of a dog is important
• I’m currently looking for an enthusiastic, responsible, and reliable female to become a part of my team of personal assistants to support me in my own home.

Main duties – I require assistance with the following:
• Personal care.
• Shopping, preparing and cooking meals
• Household tasks including cleaning, washing and ironing
• Attending work and social activities, such as theatre, cinema and meals out
• Getting in and out of bed and being repositioned once or twice a night

Hours of work, pay & benefits:
• 24-hour shifts per week available.
• £9.50 / hour
• This is not hours spread across a week but a continuous, permanent shift. E.g a 24-hour shift on a Friday would start at 11 am that day till 11 am on Saturday.
• The opportunity to do more than one shift a week is available on request.
• Days to be agreed but the flexibility to do extra shifts **with** notice is a must.
• You will get 5.6 weeks (pro-rata) paid holiday a year.
• You will be fully trained in everything you need to know – including manual transfers
Job Types: Part-time. Full-time may be requested.

The type of PA I am looking for:
• Female, owing to the nature of the job as personal care is involved. This is in line with the Equality Act sex discrimination exception.
• FLUENT in English.
• In good health.
• Have basic cooking skills as I like fresh meals but often cheat with a slow cooker.
• NO previous experience is required per se, looking for someone to take me at face value and to not fuss over me
• Need someone happy to take direction from me when I need assistance
• Friendly, reliable, responsible, sociable, a sense of humour is a bonus. : )
• Self-reliant and flexible.

Essentials:
• A valid, and clean, UK driving licence is – you will be insured to drive my adapted car.
• You must also be willing to have the COVID-19 vaccination – as part of my care team you are entitled to this regardless of age or health.
• A clean DBS is also required (costs will be covered if you don’t already have one.)
• Non-Smokers please as smoke irritates my throat.
