Location: Brislington, Bristol
Remuneration: To Be Discussed (Self-Employed – Paid monthly via Invoice)
Start Date: Pre-Season July/August 2025 (exact date TBC)
Contract: One Season (with review at ¾ season and option to extend)
About Us:
Bristol Harlequins RFC is a community-focused, ambitious club based in South Bristol, with a long-standing presence in grassroots rugby. As we prepare for the 2025/26 season, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Coach to lead our senior squad through an exciting new chapter. This is a paid, self-employed position offering the chance to influence performance, shape culture, and make a meaningful impact both on and off the field.
The Role – Purpose & Expectations:
Reporting directly to the Club Executive Committee, the Head Coach will be responsible for delivering high-quality training sessions, coaching on match days, and leading a collaborative team environment. You will act as a role model, mentor, and key influence in the sporting and personal development of players.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead 1–2 training sessions per week (Tuesdays and/or Thursdays).
• Attend all match days, supporting team selection and tactical planning.
• Attend at least one committee meeting per quarter.
• Collaborate with the Club Captain and Team Manager (if applicable) on team selection.
• Appoint assistant coaches and support staff within an agreed budget.
• Develop and implement a coaching and playing philosophy aligned with the club’s values and ambitions.
Essential Requirements:
• Passionate about rugby, player development, and community sport.
• Willingness to undertake and maintain an RFU Coaching Award.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills.
• Committed to a player-centred coaching approach, promoting confidence, skill, and enjoyment.
Desirable:
• Existing RFU coaching badges or safeguarding qualifications.
• Previous coaching experience at senior level
• Experience working with volunteer-led rugby clubs.
• Ambition to grow with the club long-term.
• Willingness to integrate and engage with the entire club
Remuneration & Terms:
• To Be Discussed (self-employed basis, paid monthly upon invoice).
• Contracted for one season, with a review at three-quarters of the season and potential for renewal.
