Job Description

The Ground Handling Officer role is pivotal in enhancing safety, compliance and overall performance of Ground Handlers, Third Party Providers and other airside operations. Development and maintenance of key relationships with stakeholders is critical and the role will adapt to diverse information and employ this knowledge proactively to drive operational performance.

By promoting best practices, the Ground Handling Officer will work collaboratively with all types of Stakeholders and aims to reinforce safety initiatives and direct improvement projects.

Responsibilities
• Ensure a continuous improvement approach is taken with performance of Ground Handling and other service providers are working closely with Airside Compliance Officers, Safety Improvements and Investigation teams.
• Supporting the Ground Handling Manager in shaping the ground handling environment, aligning teams, and seeking opportunities to reinforce the position of HAL amongst all airport stakeholders.
• Ensure all stakeholders are engaged appropriately across all the solutions required to deliver the strategic vision of Heathrow.
• In conjunction with accurate and relevant data, address performance issues amongst all airside operations, including ground handling agents.
• Support and engage with the ‘Below Wing’ Airport User Committee and support the Ground Handling Manager where required and other Ground Operations forums.

Qualifications
• Driving licence or ability to obtain an Airside Driving Permit.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence all levels of Heathrow stakeholders and the ability to articulate complex issues in a clear and concise manner.
• Previous knowledge of ground handling or airline operations, including below wing process.
• Ability to analyse and present data and use it to drive continuous improvement.
• Working knowledge of the EU Ground Handling and CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) directive.

Ideally, you would also have:
• Knowledge of aviation fuel management would be an advantage.

Working Location

Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow. Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You’ll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
