Recognising the workforce demand this post is enhanced with a market rate pay supplement up to £46,731. In August 2027 a review will take place which could reduce, increase or remove the enhancement subject to market conditions.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Hull City Council for an innovative, enthusiastic and confident qualified Environmental Health Officer to enforce, advise and give guidance on housing environmental health matters.

The post holder must have EHRB or CIEH registration and have a BSc (Hons) or MSc degree in Environmental Health or Diploma in Environmental Health. The post holder will be working a busy Housing team dealing with all aspects of the Environmental Health Housing.

The team covers single households, empty properties, licensing of houses in multiple occupation, providing expert opinion and advice to other departments, representing the authority as an expert witness in court cases relating to housing and responding to service requests. This will include carrying out inspection under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System and taking the necessary actions including serving statutory notices, civil penalties and gathering evidence to prosecute for non-compliance with legislation.

All applicants must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.

The post will be based in Hull City centre and there will be some home working.
