Community planning is an important part of the wider reform agenda and we are recruiting a Team Leader to progress this work, as part of our Place-based Service Change and Delivery Unit, which looks at how we can support partners to deliver local services in new holistic, person-centred and place-based ways.
Community Planning Partnerships bring partners such as local government, relevant public bodies as well as third sector and business organisations together at a local level to improve outcomes for people and communities across Scotland. The Verity House Agreement highlights the importance of community planning and senior colleagues are committed to developing community planning further. Community Planning has been included as a workstream under the new ‘Whole Family Support Programme’ given its importance for holistic local service delivery.
The Scottish Government also has a network of Deputy Directors and Directors who volunteer to be Place Directors. These senior colleagues play an integral role in delivering effective community planning. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring they are supported to engage positively with local partners.
Directorate Overview:
The Directorate for Public Service Reform was established in 2022 and is primarily responsible for ensuring Scotland’s public services are fiscally sustainable in the long-term and people across the country can access the support they need, where and when they need it most. looks to deliver It has a common aim of engaging with and reforming public services and the third sector to ensure there is the right infrastructure in place to help the most vulnerable in our communities, and deliver the ambitions of the resource spending review.
It will build on the positive ways of working that evolved during the pandemic to deliver services in a more streamlined and person-centred way. This requires taking a collaborative approach with a wide range of stakeholders and working collectively with policy teams across SG to ensure that this cross-cutting approach delivers Ministerial priorities and ambitions. The directorate is outward facing across the public and third sectors with the divisions sharing a number of key national performance framework measures.
The Directorate places a high level of importance on creating a positive working environment where the civil service values are actively practiced and visible. It ensures that staff have the opportunity to reach their full potential by having a strong focus on learning, development and self-expression as well as good teamwork.
