Business Intelligence Manager

Nationwide Building Society

Job description

• *9-Month Fixed-term Contract**

Data & Functions Technology Delivery exists to provide a broad range of data products to colleagues across the Society. We require a BI Manager to help develop and deliver reconciliation and assurance across critical processes, as part of that team.

You will join a community of analytical practitioners whose collective role is to enhance value through data and helping colleagues across the Society to unlock value by utilising your expert capability and skills. From a task perspective, you will be working in one of our Insight and Analytics teams, focussing on delivering shared outcomes that you have helped to prioritise, bringing your insight development skills as part of a multi-skilled team.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you’ll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you’ll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon or London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.

The role involves supporting stakeholders from across the Society, focussing on delivering clear recommendations through analytics and insights, bringing your outputs to life through compelling storytelling as part of a multi-skilled team.

You will be supporting the Senior Management team with the execution of their vision and prioritised deliverables. You will be able to identify opportunities to deliver ‘more’, where you may be working alongside others or on individual assignments and take ownership for ensuring things are done correctly. You will effectively communicate with stakeholders to understand their business objectives, enabling interpretation and translation of their needs and relevant product knowledge into tangible business insight and analytics outcomes and requirements.

This could mean you apply your skills to supporting proposition development, unlocking insights to support Channel developments, or supporting resolution of Member operational incidents with auditable well-controlled data.

As a Business Intelligence Manager, you will be expected to provide line management, coaching, and mentoring to colleagues and invest time in growing collective capability in the Society through your core area of expertise.

We’re looking for candidates that have:
• Leadership experience within an analysis environment.
• Extensive experience of translating strategic business needs or regulatory requirements into business insight and analysis.
• Demonstrable experience of developing solutions using SQL, SAS, or Power BI.
• Ability to act as the primary lead for large-scale projects turning ambiguous asks into actionable insight.
• A background in advising, challenging, and coaching business stakeholders in how to drive value from data, increasing understanding and use of data, and igniting business stakeholder ambition by sharing the art of the possible.
• Experience of successful line management and coaching of insight professionals.

We know applying for jobs can sometimes feel like you’re sending an application into a black hole. We review each application individually. So, it’s a good idea to call out your most relevant experience on your application to give yourself the best chance.

The extras you’ll get include a personal pension, up to 2 days of paid volunteering a year, life assurance worth 8x your salary, a great selection of additional benefits through our salary sacrifice scheme, Wellhub – Access to a range of free and paid options for health and wellness, access to an annual performance-related bonus, access to training to help you develop and progress your career, and 25 days holiday, pro rata.

Nationwide is the world’s largest building society. With over 15 million customers, we have a relationship with almost a quarter of the UK’s population. We’ve got the scale to compete with the big banks, but we’re not a bank.

When you work at Nationwide, you can experience that difference for yourself. You’ll be part of a high-performing, purpose-driven organisation that offers rewarding career experiences and a highly competitive range of benefits to match. You’ll also be joining us at an important time as we seek to reach more and more people in the UK. We want everyone in the UK to know that they don’t have to bank with a bank. They can choose a modern mutual instead.
