Laboratory Assistant – Part Time

Quaker Houghton

This is a part time Laboratory Technician role, supporting the routine testing of production and customer samples. Also responsible for providing support with other day to day laboratory activities.

Working Hours: 5 hours per day Monday to Friday

Tasks
• Testing of customer samples in a timely manner and in line with procedure,
• interpret results and make necessary recommendations
• Testing and approval of finished goods in line with procedure.
• Testing and approval of raw materials received in line with procedure
• Preparation of necessary documentation / reports as required and maintain laboratory records
• Ensuring that all laboratory equipment is regularly calibrated and conforms to
• process/regulatory requirements and maintain records
• Support other laboratory activities / investigations when required
• Ensuring departmental compliance with QH EHS, ISO9001 and other mandatory
• procedures.
• Ensuring that the laboratory workplace is maintained in a clean and orderly condition

Requirements
• Studied to a minimum standard of GCSE or equivalent, English, mathematics and a science would be preferable.
• Experience of working in a relevant discipline within a laboratory or similar environment would be beneficial but not essential.
• Ability to use Microsoft office.
• Excellent attention to detail and able to work accurately under pressure
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Recognition of the importance of personal responsibility for health and safety
• Ability to multi-task, prioritise work under pressure and be able to work unsupervised.
