Role: Commercial Lead (Procurement & Contract Management)

Location: Glasgow, Andover, Whittington (Lichfield), and Wyton

Salary: £72,000 to £79,200 + GCO Pension, GCO Terms. Up to 15% performance-related-pay

Department: Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO)

DIO provides the infrastructure which supports the ability for the UK’s Defence operation to live, work and train at home and abroad. Our teams play a key role in delivering the UK’s Defence objectives and are responsible for a land mass which represents 2% of the entire UK.

Our estate is incredibly complex but highly interesting, and for the right candidate who’s interested in empowering a Commercial team to deliver great supply chains to deliver across the Estate this would be a fantastic role.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivery of Procurement
• Participating in strategic and business negotiations in order to deliver the agreed strategy and comply with the procurement process
• Leading supplier engagement across a variety of stages within the procurement process with both strategic and non-strategic suppliers to communicate progress in line with benefits realisation.
• Justifying commercial activity in accordance with the organisation’s commercial governance and management framework, HM Treasury requirements and Cabinet Office policy and spend controls.

Delivery of Contract Management
• Leading on contract management for one or more of the organisation’s most high-profile, complex and strategic contracts.
• Ensuring effective stakeholder management, governance, performance management frameworks, escalation, risk management, issue resolution, financial management, change control and compliance.
• Managing contract variations, providing practical advice and strategic direction.
• Evaluating whether a contract is achieving a successful return on investment, in the light of ‘value for money’ considerations.
